The Groke GT 190 is the first and currently only inward-opening aluminum front door that has been tested in accordance with EVH quality standards, Part B, and has been proven to withstand standing water.
As of September 2026
Front doors typically open inward. However, this poses a significant challenge for flood protection: The water pressure from the outside acts directly in the direction the door opens.
The Groke GT 190 is designed to handle precisely this difficult scenario. The technical measures for flood protection were designed so that the door leaf remains securely closed even when water is standing outside—without compromising everyday usability.
Many flood protection systems for doors are designed for outward-opening doors, where water pressure pushes the door in the direction of closure. For inward-opening doors—the standard for front doors in Germany—the technical requirements are significantly more demanding. The Groke GT 190 was developed specifically for this real-world application and has been successfully tested for it by the Europaverband Hochwasserschutz e.V..
From a design perspective, an outward-opening door may appear less inviting. Furthermore, it can look unappealing if the door moves directly toward the visitor when opened.

The front doors shown here, with and without side panels, meet the requirements of DIN EN 1627, resistance class RC 2, and feature high-quality 9.5 mm-thick P4A laminated security glass on the exterior and 6 mm-thick laminated safety glass on the interior.
The police recommend that front doors for houses and apartments provide burglary protection through doors rated at least RC 2.
